Rediet Abebe earns a place on the annual Bloomberg 50, which looks at the people in business, entertainment, finance, politics, and technology and science whose 2018 accomplishments were particularly noteworthy. Her research focuses on how algorithms can be applied to health, education, and housing. Research Scientist Timnit Gebru credits Abebe with “an unprecedented increase in the percentage of black graduate student admissions at Cornell.”
